What is of the upness?

Yo Sally! It's been too long. How you been, girl?

We had lots of fun with Sally back in the old days, and one of the best parts of Sally was the Sally music. You know what I'm talking about, all the classic songs (most of which came from either Susan or Jen's cds) that we played over and over and made them Sally Songs. Manahmana, King of Spain, El Capitain, Too Sexy, Save a horse ride a cowboy, etc. What exactly caused these songs to become Sally Songs? Well that depends on the song, but what they all had in common was that they were either peppy, funny, witty, just plain cool, or any of the above. The critical thing to becoming a sally song though was that they had to be listened to by at least a few of us, if not all of the Sally group. Well, with all of us being busy and some of us not living in the same city anymore, it is harder for us to get songs that are beloved by all and can work their way into the Sally Song hall of fame. So what I propose is that we do a little online sharing, and see if we can get some new Sally music, so that next time we have an awesome Sally party we have new things to rock out to that everybody likes.

How it works: Well I'm gonna start of by posting a bunch of songs that I think Sally-type peoples would like. You guys can download them, listen to them, and see if you like them too. If you do, come back here and leave a comment saying which ones you like! What else can you do? Well, go through your music files, and see if there is anything you think is Sallyish, and then post it here, in a new entry or on this one, whichever! Funny, funky, rockish, dancy, country, whatever you want to post, although I would probably stay away from depressing songs. And also throw in songs you have already shared with other Sally members, but not the whole group yet. I'm all the way out here in Van, I want to hear some of the stuff you guys listen to when you get together back in the 'Whack.

All of these have been uploaded to, so they will be available for 7 days or 25 downloads, whichever happens first.

Justin Timberlake - "Sexyback" You know you love it. Heh heh. I am still shocked that this song is actually legitimately popular, Justin Timberlake used to be so much of a joke. I still love him though. *waves fangirl banner*

Christina Aguilera - "Candyman" This is a great song from Christina's new cd. It's very 50's, and just makes me want to swing dance to it. It is Christina though, so it's a bit naughty.

Abba - "Dancing Queen" This one is already a Sally classic, but I figured I would throw it in anyways. Totally the sex goddess song.

Loudon Wainwright - "Good Ship Venus" Warning! This one is an incredibly dirty pirate shanty. But it is so funny. And it's sung by Rufus Wainwright's dad. Ever seen Big Fish? This guy was the mayor of Spectre, the weird little town with no shoes.

Cobra Starship - "Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)" SOAP! 'Cmon, who doesn't love Snakes on a (motherfucking) Plane?

Spamalot soundtrack - "You Won't Succeed On Broadway" This is from the Monty Python musical "Spamalot", which is based on the Holy Grail. This is an amusing song sung by David Hyde Pierce (Niles from Fraser) as Sir Robin.

Avenue Q soundtrack - "Everyone's A Little Bit Racist" This one and the next one are from the "Avenue Q" soundtrack. Avenue Q is a very funny play starring a cast of puppets living in New York, and it is a total parody on Sesame Street. So funny. Here is the wikipedia entry about it if you want to know the story, but the songs are just as great by themselves. I have here two of the funnier ones, but also the whole soundtrack in a .zip file if anyone really likes it.

Avenue Q - "The Internet Is For Porn"

Avenue Q soundtrack (.zip file)

Little Mermaid Soundtrack - "Part of Your World" In honour of it being released on dvd, here is Ariel's song.

Mr. Burns - "See My Vest" Another sorta Sally song already, this is from the Simpsons

Moxy Fruvous - "Johnny Saucep'n" What is Sally without Moxy Fruvous? This one is from the live album I made copies for Nina and Jen for their birthdays.

Marylin Monroe - "Little Girl From Little Rock" And one just for Leanne, in case she wants to remember the stellar acting from the Vanier musical last year. It's from the "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" soundtrack.

If anyone has the Aaron Pritchet song, "Hold My Beer (while I kiss your girlfriend)", that would be really cool. So, get listening and get commenting, then post some of your favourite songs!
